The Championship course has  staged the Portuguese Open six times including 1998 and the 10th World Team Championship in 1976. Being set around the hotel the complex offers the out of bed and onto the fairway feel which is well known in USA courses and makes it ideal for hosting large tournaments This golf and hotel resort has two additional courses. Soft spiked shoes and handicap certificates are required to play the Championship course.
